J. Mack Lancaster, M.D.
Dr. Lancaster specializes in the treatment of injuries and disorders of the hip and knee. He performs a large volume of hip and knee replacement surgery and arthroscopic surgery of the knee and is involved in research in the field of joint replacement. He has served as consultant to orthopedic equipment manufacturers aiding in the design and development of joint replacement implants and assisting in education of other orthopedic surgeons in new surgical techniques. He is a member of numerous medical organizations including the Dallas County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, American Medical Association, Texas Orthopedic Association, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and American Association of Arthritic Hip and Knee Surgeons
Dr. Lancaster performed the first minimally invasive hip replacement done at Baylor University Medical Center and frequently performs minimally invasive joint replacement techniques for both hip and knee. These techniques may allow shorter hospital stay and faster recovery from joint replacement.
Dr. Lancaster was born and reared in Texas. He received a bachelor of Science degree in zoology in 1975 from the University of Tulsa, where he was an All-Conference defensive tackle and a member of the Academic All-America football team. Though drafted by the Detroit Lions of the National Football League, he chose instead to attend the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, earning his medical degree in 1979. He completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery in 1984 at North Carolina Baptist Hospital / Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem. He has been a physician member of Orthopedic Associates of Dallas from 1984 through the present.
Dr. Lancaster's hobbies include golfing and skiing. He and his wife, Caroline, are active members of Prestoncrest Church of Christ.
